    Reading Comprehension

Have you ever read the poem by Robert Frost, "The Road Not Taken"?  Well, it is all about choices.  If you make a choice to turn right your world will be different than if you turned left.  The poem does not imply either is a better choice, just different.

Well, you may be headed in one direction NOW, but in four years, will you still be heading in that direction or will something bump you off your road?

An extensive reading vocabulary is a vital part to a healthy and effective life. Having a strong vocabulary cuts down on confusion and frustration on the messenger and the receivers' part.  So, If needed, we will review letter awareness, vowels and consonants awareness, basic site words, word families phonemes, graphemes, blends, prefixes, suffixes, etc.  We will also remember the listening and speaking vocabularies are separate entities.  Yeah, you can get it with Another Chance for Academic Excellence.

Reading is an art.  Reading is complex.  Reading is more than knowing and calling words; it is understanding the dictionary definition (denotation) of the words plus understanding how the words are being used in their particular context which may have a positive or negative image or feeling (connotation). That is why we start learning to read so very young. If you need help sorting this out, give yourself Another Chance for Academic Excellence.
