WHAT YOU CAN DO!

Dear Concerned Parents:
Real talk...many times when teachers hear the phrase, "I'm a concerned parent!" it is around progress report or report card time. However, the truly concerned parent is involved the 1st week, the 2nd week, the 3rd week, all the way through the 9th week, of the 4th quarter. No it is not easy, but it's a parent's job.
If circumstances prevent a parent from taking an active role in their child's educational journey, acknowledgement should be taken and a "let me get back on track attitude" should be used. Blame should not be transferred to others because it is convenient. This does your child no good and teaches them a dangerous method of dealing with life.
So, concerned parent, ask yourself, these questions:
1) Is my child actually on grade level, regardless of the grades being brought home? (reading comprehension, vocabulary, writing, speaking, critical thinking)
2) Will my child be able to thrive in the 21st century with its quickly advancing technologies and constantly changing cultures and demands?
If the answer is no to either question, perhaps your child needs to be given Another Chance.
